Functional, Naturopathic and Chinese Medicine
Welcome! I am Dr. Laura and I am honored to support you on your path to wellness and vitality. My own journey of overcoming transformative hurdles has shaped me into the physician I am today, equipping me with the tools to guide and empower my patients along their healing journeys.
Whole-Person Care
Inspired by my father’s challenges with heart disease, I felt there was a missing piece in his medical care – a comprehensive, root cause approach. This realization inspired me on the path to ultimately be an innovator in bringing functional integrative medicine into the hospital system.
An Integrative Approach to Cancer Care
Dedicated to comprehensive root cause medicine, I bring a holistic approach to cancer care by working to correct imbalances in the terrain or soil of the body where cancer cells sprouted. I have witnessed the safety and effectiveness of integrative cancer care. As a Naturopathic Oncologist, I strive to help patients feel empowered and embodied, to help manage treatment side effects, enhance immune response, prevent recurrence, and optimize health and vitality. In general, I strive to help you walk through the fire of a cancer diagnosis and treatment transformed and come out the other side stronger, wiser and more vibrant.
Hormone Balance, Hormone Replacement and Optimization
Perimenopause and menopause is a time of growth and change, but it does not need to be a time of suffering. I believe that women should be offered a full range of options, including menopausal hormone therapy to help with hot flashes, mood, sleep, pain and protect against osteoporosis, dementia, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. I am a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and have done further mentorship on hormone prescribing with Dr. Rachel Rubin and training through The Institute of Functional Medicine to help you navigate the risks and benefits of hormonal options and chart a path that is right for you.
After experiencing my own diagnosis with the autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and a strong family history of osteoporosis, I developed an understanding of the complexities of chronic illness and the importance of hormone optimization for prevention and personalized care.
I have served as a Board Member for the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Examiners. I have worked in collaboration with oncologists at cancer hospitals and continue to see patients at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.
Sharing my life with my two mini Australian Labradoodles, one special cat, a horse, my two amazing teenagers and my husband of 20+ years brings immense joy and richness to my life. I wholeheartedly believe in (and practice what I preach) the importance of personal growth and ongoing healing work for mind, body, and spirit.
I’m a Naturopathic Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist. As a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO), I specialize in naturopathic cancer care. I’m also a Certified Practitioner of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP). Beyond my medical expertise, I hold a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certification and a Yoga4Cancer certification.
With over 20 years of experience working directly with patients, I’ve completed a primary care residency, owned a successful multidisciplinary wellness center, and practiced privately for a decade. Additionally, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the esteemed team at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Currently, I work full time at Providence Integrative Medicine at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.
I am a mom to two amazing teenagers a wife of almost 20 years and share my home and my heart with my two mini Australian labradoodles and one cat. I have done, and continue to do, a lot of my own healing work – mind, body and spirit.
As a licensed physician in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and California, I am able to provide comprehensive medical care in these states. However, if you reside outside of these areas, I am available for consultation services to support your health needs and support you on your health journey.

Some reviews from our patients:
“I was frustrated, sad, confused, angry and in a lot of pain when I first came to see Dr. Martell. My previous doctors dismissed me and made me feel like a hypochondriac with a weight gain issue. When I met with Dr. Martell, she made me feel like I was a human again. I no longer feel as if I’m lost or hiding in a dark tunnel of confusion. Thank you for listening, being proactive and actually working towards an end goal of feeling healthy again!”
“Dr. Martell is truly one of the very best doctors that I have ever had in my life. She is caring, compassionate, thorough, and wants to help improve the lives of her patients. I am so thankful for her. She has helped me with my chronic pain and give me hope that my life and health can improve and she is not judgmental or pushy.”
